Teen Dating Violence Awareness Month
How do you help a friend in an abusive relationship? Listen and be supportive. Let your friend know you care. Encourage them to seek help from an adult or professional if they are trying to leave an unhealthy relationship. Violence Intervention Project offers free and confidential services to whomever may need it.


Focus Friday
Friday, February 20th– Zach Blahnik, Go All In, 3:24 in the Little Theater
Work hard at something and devote your finite time to something you’re passionate about.  Have a positive outlook on new opportunities, go all in on something.  Take a step out of your comfort zone and embrace it.  Things turn out best for those people who make the best of the way things turn out.


Destination Imagination Team Performances & Spaghetti Dinner
Sunday, February 24, 2019, at Algoma High School.  Celebrate the hard work of the Algoma School District Destination Imagination Teams! Everything is done by the team members – from concept to creation to presentation!

The Algoma School District Destination Imagination teams will present their Challenge solutions to friends and family. This will help the teams as they prepare to compete at the BayLake Regional tournament on March 2, 2019, in Sturgeon Bay.

Dinner will be served from 12 -4, performances run from 12:30 – 3:10,  Silent Auction ends at 4, bucket raffles will be drawn at 4:15. Visit our blog for more details >>.

Track and Field
Any high school student interested in joining track and field should stop in Mr. Schmiling’s room any time to sign up. Practice starts on Monday, March 4.
Middle school sign up will be announced at a future time.


ATTENTION ALL SENIORS! Please choose one senior picture and baby picture, along with a senior quote and send it to or If you do not have access to a photo scanner, please turn in the actual picture or paper copy into the office. These pictures need to be turned in by April 1st or your school default picture will be used and no quote will be recorded.


Bellin Camps
Interested in learning more about the Nursing or Medical Imaging profession and getting hands-on experience? Check out the flyer for Bellin College Summer Camps. Apply online at Deadline to apply is April 30th or until camps are full.


Color Me Algoma Run/Walk
The race will take place on Saturday, May 4, 2019 at 8:30 AM starting at Algoma High School/ Wellness Center. Click here for the registration form. Forms are due by April 3rd and can be turned in at the public library, Elementary school office, or High School office.


Food Pantry Volunteers Needed
The Algoma Food Pantry is looking to open the food pantry one evening a month to enable families who work during the day to have access to the pantry. As of right now, they are considering the 3rd Wednesday of each month from 4:30 – 7:00.  To do this they will need a couple of volunteers who would be willing to work one evening a month. Friends and Fiber
Want to learn a new craft? Join us at Friends and Fiber at the Public Library from 3:30 – 5:00 on Mondays. Please see Mrs. Lemberger if you have any questions.


Kajeet Wireless Hot Spots 
Kajeet Smartspots (wireless hot spots) are now available for check out if you need internet access at home to complete your school work. Email Mr. Duerst your request. Make sure to give him enough notice to get the device prepared for you. He will email you back once it is ready for pickup in the high school office. Also, if you need to check out a laptop, follow the same process.



Don’t forget to fill out the half GOLDEN ROD sheet in the office when requesting your transcripts be sent to the schools you list.  You can put more than one school on one sheet.

The following schools will be at the Algoma High School to meet with students:

  • Monday, Feb. 25th- UW Green Bay- 3rd hour (9:53-10:45)- Board Room
  • Wednesday, Mar. 20th- Bellin College- 3rd/4th hour (10:40-11:40)- Board Room
