General Announcements

Diaper Drive
Come and support Diving for Diapers at Algoma Wellness Center for Kewaunee County. We are collecting diapers, wipes and pull-ups sizes 1 and up. The drive will start at the Junior Varsity Volleyball Tournament which is Saturday, September 21st and end on the Varsity Volleyball Tournament which is on Saturday, September 28th. The Introduction to Healthcare students goal is to raise at least 50 packs of diapers and wipes. Help us reach our goal!!!


Destination Imagination
Registration for DI is open and applications and the $10 activity fee are due September 25, 2019.  Visit the Algoma School District DI website for a registration form.


Yearbook Sales
The back to school yearbook sale is now open! Please submit your yearbook orders online or paper order forms to the office. Paper order forms can be picked up in the art room. The current price for a 2019-2020 yearbook is $45 with free personalization! This sale ends on Friday, September 27th. Students will still be able to buy a yearbook after this date, but any custom personalization will be at an additional cost.  Link to Order online:

Homecoming T-shirts
Students can now pay for their homecoming t-shirt. The cost is $10. Students can pay cash or use a check made out to Algoma High School.

Shirts will be available to pick up on Monday, September 30th in Mr. Nelson’s room.


Coaches (or players) of Powderpuff, stop by Mr. Kruis’ room (102) for the formalized rules for the game this year.  You will be expected to abide by them during the game.  Don’t commit avoidable penalties!


Homecoming Guests
If you are interested in bringing a friend or significant other from another High School to the Homecoming Dance, swing by the HS office or Mr. Kruis’ room (102) to get a Guest Permission Slip. Your date will not be allowed entry to the dance if they do not have a slip turned in.


Homecoming Dresses
Would you like to save money a Homecoming Dress?! If you said, “Yes, I do!” then you are in for a treat. Mr. Kruis has coupons for $30 off of a purchase at David’s Bridal. Swing by his room to pick one up; first come, first served.


Zoobilee Festival
The annual Zoobilee festival is on it’s way and the Zoological Society of Kewaunee is asking for volunteers who would be interested in face painting during the event. Zoobilee will be held on October 5th from 10 am to 4 pm. The Zoological Society will provide all the supplies needed, and this event can also count toward your volunteer hours. Let Miss Louis know if you’re interested in volunteering.


Blood Drive
Do you want to save a life and help others in need? If you give blood, you can save up to 3 lives!!! Come to the American Red Cross Blood Drive Tuesday, October 8th from 9 am- 1 pm in the Wellness Center! Every drop counts! See Ms. Ballone or Maddie McCosky to learn more or sign up. At this blood drive, each person that gives blood will receive a Culver’s coupon and a Subway cookie!


Construction Trades Career Event
The Northeast WI Building and Construction Trades Council (NEWBCTC) will be hosting the Annual Construction Trades Career Event on Wednesday, October 9, 2019, at the Expo Hall @ Kewaunee County Fairgrounds in Luxemburg. This will be an interactive “hands on” event for high school students grades 10-12 interested in exploring a career that have interest in architecture/construction and related fields.The students will have an opportunity to work with journeyman from the trades with “hands on” activities! There is a video on our website: about the interactive activities which will be available at the career fair. There are 14 spots available. Contact Mr. Abel for more details.


NWTC Utility Preview Day
NWTC presents Utility Preview Day on Tuesday, Oct. 15th at the Green Bay Campus. Learn about Electrical Power Distribution (install, maintain, and operate electrical systems) and Gas Utility Construction & Service (natural and propane gas distribution systems) for residential, commercial, and industrial customers. Then off to the Utility Education Field where current students will help you climb a pole, fuse a pipe, operate a backhoe and more! See this flyer for registration information and more details.


Flu Vaccine Clinic
To protect the children within our community, the Kewaunee County Health Department will hold an influenza immunization clinic on Friday, October 25th. Injectable vaccine will be available free of charge while supplies last. Please note that Flumist (the nasal vaccine) will not be available through the health department. Consent forms should be completed and turned into the office by Wednesday, October 23rd. Click here for the Vaccine Information Sheet and here for the consent form.


Art Donations
VIP ( The Violence Intervention Project) is asking for art donations to be auctioned off at our 30th Anniversary Gala on November 9th at the Barnsite in Kewaunee. Art pieces will need to be finished and dropped off at the VIP office by MondayOctober 28 so they can be included on the auction list and transported to the venue. They are also asking each artist to include a brief description of the piece, and what it means to them or represents. Artist should also include the estimated price of the artwork, so VIP can figure out a starting bid price. Please contact Miss Louis for more information, and to drop off any completed pieces. Thank you for donating to a great cause!


The Find Your Inspiration Experience
Community Exploration Night will be held on Monday, November 4, 2019 from 3 – 6:30 p.m. at the KI Convention Center in Downtown Green Bay. The inspiring, FREE event is open to high school students, parents and all the community to explore more than 60 different exhibits featuring a wide range of careers at each exhibit.


Schaus Propane Transport
Schaus Propane Transport of Luxemburg is now hiring part time employees (after school and weekends). Duties include truck/semi washing, yard maintenance, and assisting mechanics. If interested, please contact Katie Schaus at 920-845-5577 or send resume to N6129 Walhain Road, Luxemburg, WI 54217.
