AECF Scholarships


The Algoma Education Capital Fund (AECF) is excited to partner with individuals and organizations in an effort to make more scholarships available to area students.

The following scholarships will be administered and processed through the AECF committee.

Norma Mueller and Marge Curtin

Norma Mueller and Marge Curtin

The Norma Mueller and Marge Curtin Memorial Fund offers a yearly $1,000 scholarship to a worthy student planning on attending a two- or four-year institution.

The criteria include, but are not limited to:

  • Student-written essay
  • Community service
  • Extra-curricular activities

  • Academic achievement
  • Graduate of Algoma High School
  • A minimum high school GPA of 2.0


The award will be split up into two halves. The first half of the award will be distributed upon proof of registration at a postsecondary institution. The second half will be awarded after proof of registration for second semester.

Muskrat City Sportsmens Club 2019 Scholarship

Muskrat City Sportsmens Club

The Muskrat City Sportsmen’s Club is offering a one-time, $750.00 scholarship to a worthy Algoma High School Senior graduating in 2019 and planning on attending a two- or four-year institution.
The criteria include, but are not limited to:

  • Student-written essay
  • Completed scholarship application
  • Community service
  • Extra-curricular activities
  • Academic achievement
  • Graduate of Algoma High School – Class of 2019

James Blahnik

The James R. Blahnik Agricultural Scholarship offers a one-time, $500 scholarship to a worthy graduating high school senior planning on furthering their education.

The criteria include but are not limited to:

  • Graduate of Algoma High School
  • Pursuing an agriculture-related career in ag-business, crops & soils or animal science.
  • Must be enrolled in a 2-year, 4-year or short course ag program.
  • A minimum high school GPA of 2.0.
  • Displays leadership qualities.
  • Completed Scholarship Application.
  • Completed essay indicated his/her career goals (500 words or less).
  • Included a letter of recommendation which would indicate applicant’s qualifications for receiving this scholarship

Algoma Education Capital Fund Scholarship

The Algoma Education Capital Fund Scholarship offers a one-time scholarship of $500 to a worthy graduating high school senior planning on furthering their education.

The criteria include, but are not limited to:

  • Graduate of Algoma High School
  • Must be enrolled in post-secondary training/certification or a 2-year/4-year undergraduate program.
  • Displays leadership qualities.
  • Completed scholarship application
  • Submitted proof to address the application question (examples include: essay, powerpoint presentation, video, inspiration board, etc.).
  • Included a letter of recommendation which would indicate applicant’s qualifications for receiving this scholarship.

Award amount: $500
