Job Category:  Elementary School Special Ed Paraprofessional Position

Classification: Part-time up to 29 hours per week

Wages: $15/hr

Qualifications:  Associates degree is required and experience working with children is preferred. Experience with adaptive and inclusionary practices and working with children that have severe cognitive and physical disabilities is a plus.  Must be able to obtain Special Education Aide License within 3 months.  Confidentiality and positive attitude are required.

Director of Operations & Community Engagement, Algoma Community Wellness Center

Our Mission: At the Algoma Community Wellness Center, our mission is to help people achieve a life of health and happiness.

Job Description:

  • Foster intergenerational connections between youth and community members.
  • Develop, organize, and supervise the daily operation of the wellness center.
  • Create, organize, evaluate and execute ongoing fitness programs and events.
  • Maintain all fitness equipment by establishing a preventive maintenance program and safety checklist.
  • Propose new equipment and supplies that are needed to meet our community members needs.
  • Enforce wellness center policies and rules.
  • Provide suggestions to the school district for continuous improvement with community engagement.
  • Manage memberships, provide a comprehensive new-member orientation program, and develop a process for membership recruitment/retention.
  • Provide outstanding customer service to fitness center members.
  • Implement wellness programs for a wide variety of ages and abilities.
  • Management of desk staff (training, supervision, scheduling, support, and payroll submission).
  • Develop creative, engaging marketing and communications that promotes wellness center activities
  • Meets with school district administration to review goals and vision of the center.
  • Balance the needs of the Community Wellness Center while maintaining a strong relationship with school district staff and students.
  • Leverage revenue generation with community services and partnerships.
  • Creates and maintains community partnerships for greater reach and scope of offerings for members.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Degree in Exercise Science, Community Health, Public Health or other related field
  •  Current CPR/First Aid certification preferred before hire
  • Candidates must hold, or be willing to obtain upon hire, a professional certification by nationally recognized nhealth/fitness organizations, such as ACSM, NSCA, NETA, ACE and AFAA, are preferred. Candidates must be ableband willing to teach group exercise classes each week as part of their position

Typical hours would be Monday thru Friday from 7:30 am – 4:00 pm. Hours will vary greatly depending on season, staffing, and wellness programs and classes offered.

Bus Drivers

Job Category:  Transportation/Maintenance

Classification: Part-time (4 hours per day during the school year)

Starting Wage: Competitive wages and benefits

Description:  Drive school busses to safely transport students to and from our facilities. Maintain cleanliness of busses under COVID-19 procedures.

Qualifications:  High school diploma and valid Class B commercial driver’s license (CDL) with endorsement to operate a school bus required. Must have a good driving record with at least 4 years of experience driving ANY vehicle. Must be at least 21 years of age and be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check.
