Algoma School District’s Solar Farm

Designed and built by McKinstry, a full-service, design-build-operate-and-maintain (DBOM) firm specializing in energy saving designs for buildings, Algoma School District’s solar farm came online at 1AM on September 30, 2020.

The solar farm is located on the south side of the Algoma High/Middle School campus, on the Feld St. side.

Built to reduce the school’s carbon footprint while saving the district money, the solar farm project took 2 years to complete from design to finished product.

Algoma School District average power cost per kWh is 10.95 cents. You can use the Solar Farm Activity to see how much the Algoma School District is saving.

1 Megawatt hour (MWh) is equal to 1000 kilowatt hours (kWh). To convert MWh to kWh, multiply the MWh value by 1000
