Harleigh Bongle is an 11-year-old from Algoma. Harleigh is diagnosed with a rare disease called ANCA Vasculitis Granulomatosis with Polyangiitis. ANCA Vasculitis is a rare disease that causes inflammation of the blood vessels. It stands for Anti-Neutrophil Cytoplasmic antibody-associated vasculitis.

These conditions can affect small to medium-sized blood vessels, leading to various symptoms like fatigue, fever, and organ damage. GPA is an ANCA-associated vasculitis, typically associated with small vessel inflammation and granulomatous infiltration of tissues. Typical organs affected include the lungs and kidneys. GPA can present with a myriad of symptoms, involve other organs, and masquerade or mimic cancer or infection.

This disease can attack any part of the body and unfortunately, it attacked Harleigh’s lungs and kidneys this past fall. Harleigh’s lungs had filled up with fluid which led to her having to be intubated at The Children’s Hospital in Milwaukee. While intubated, she was also being treated for Chronic Kidney Failure due to Vasculitis.

The benefit will help Haleigh’s parents, Jason and Melissa Bongle, pay medical bills.
